At this point, Kate Moss could more or less get away with anything — throwing surprise parties for John Galliano and kicking Piers Morgan in the shins included. So it didn’t really come as a surprise to us when the supermodel causally mentioned to Company magazine that she was thinking of opening a modeling school. And then we remembered everything we know about the modeling industry and we were kinda flabbergasted.
Anyway, Moss (talking about the next step in developing her already gargantuan empire) said that she has the experience to teach a new generation of svelte, naturally beautiful girls to become international sensations. Because, you know, she’s totally been there before.
“I think I could open a modelling school. In Britain’s Next Top Model they put the contestants through the torture of what modelling can be like. And it honestly can be humiliating” Moss said.
don’t doubt that Moss could be an effective coach, we do doubt that a modeling school is the right way for her to go about sharing her wisdom. The guiding wisdom in the industry is that if you have to pay to join some kind of modeling boot camp, it’s probably a scam — and it’d be foolish for Moss to offer scholarship-based instruction, right?
And while the Kate Moss Modeling Academy already sounds like Harvard on the Runway — can you imagine posing lessons with Naomi Campbell or flashbulb sensitivity training with Mario Testino? — if it’s not a working agency it doesn’t really guarantee that Moss’s fashion progeny would get work. And what’s the point of being a Kate Moss Modeling Academy Graduate if you don’t come out of school and slip right into a comfy Valentino campaign?
