Chanel Unveils Cote D'Azur Collection

Could blue be the it nail color? Chanel seems to think so.

The French luxury brand is debuting an icy pale blue nail lacquer called Riva in their Côte D'Azur 2010 Cruise Collection, which StyleIst learned earlier this year was inspired by the glam-chic Saint Tropez destination that is both popular with international jet-setters, and where Chanel's cruise collection fashion show took place this past spring.

"Effortless, natural beauty, relaxed girls who are enjoying their holidays. That was the main idea behind the look," said Global Creative Director Peter Philips at the time. "We added a touch of playfulness by applying a pastel baby bleu nail polish
"

The clothing collection that begot the polish was rich in shades of mint green, bright pink, sky and navy blue, which all pop against the white-out effect of the pastel nail lacquer -- that experts say serves the double pupose of helping you fake a tan:

Meanwhile, backstage beauty looks paired a natural, healthy skin look with lightly defined lashes and brows, and soft coral lips that looked gently touched by the sun's light.

Lip colors will also be available in the new collection, and come in a smattering of sun-ready pink, nude and coral - orange shades.

While celebrities and socialites set off on their mid-winter holidays, the rest of us mere mortals can exult in the same beach fever with a swipe of a nail polish brush.
And if Riva whets the same kind of appetite the mint green Jade and greige Particulaire nail shades did in the past year, we suggest you get in line now.
Le Vernis Nail Colour in Riva ($27) and Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour ($30) are available for a limited time this December exclusively at Chanel.com, Chanel Makeup Studios, and Chanel boutiques
