Helping to Protect You and Your Occupants

Safety Systems

For the ninth year in a row (2001-2009), Lincoln Navigator has earned the government’s highest five-star front crash-test rating.*
Personal Safety System®
Navigator has an innovative system that uses a network of sensors to determine protection for the driver and front passenger in certain frontal collisions. It customizes the deployment of the dual-stage front airbags** based on several criteria: 1) the driver’s seat position; 2) whether the front passenger seat is occupied and the weight range of the occupant; 3) whether the front safety belts are in use; and 4) the overall severity of the impact.

Flex-Fuel Capable

Delivering 310 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft. of torque, the 5.4L SOHC V8 engine of the 2009 Lincoln Navigator is flex fuel capable, which makes it powerful and versatile. You can fill up with E85 (a blend of ethanol and gasoline), regular gasoline, or any combination of the two. And its strength goes beyond the gas pumps. The Navigator 4x2 can tow up to 9,000 lbs. (8,700 lbs., 4x4) when properly equipped.
Powerful and clean, the 2009 Lincoln Navigator is also certified to reduce smog-forming emissions by at least 55%, hydrocarbon emissions by at least 42% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 65%, compared to the previous generation Navigator.*
