Trends That Ruled The Golden Globes 2011 Red Carpet

Trends, trends, so many trends! There were quite a few distinct trends that popped up on the Golden Globes red carpet (and Angelina Jolie managed to incorporate three of them into her winning ensemble).
There was tons of green, and even more pink. Sparkles and flowers dominated, though some elegant minimalism was thrown into the mix. And the shoulders! Oh, how we love those shoulders.

PINKS OF EVERY SHADE:

Pink was the unofficial color of the evening, and shades ran the gamut from the super pale to the blindingly bright. The hue of Claire's Calvin Klein number is probably our favorite, while the tone of Lea's Oscar de la Renta gown reminds us of Pepto-Bismol.

Statement Shoulders

One au courant way to spice up an outfit? Statement shoulders! This is one trend we can really get behind. Angelina's Versace (again!)and Anne's Armani utilized shoulder pads, Leighton's Burberry poofed and Jane looked sharp (literally). AWWW

Chick Minimalism

While the night saw plenty of embellished frocks, a few stars chose to go minimalist. Not surprisingly, Calvin Klein was responsible for both Claire and Emma's looks. And how great did 14-year-old Hailee look in Prabal Gurung?

EMERALD GREEN

It's hard to decide with gorgeous emerald dress is our favorite. This one's a tough call: Monique Lhuillier (Catherine), Versace (Angelina), Vera Wang (Mila) or Donna Karan (Elisabeth)?

TONS OF FLOWERS

not feeling the floral theme, unlike quite a few red carpet reliables. The flowers on Natalie's Viktor & Rolf and Michelle's Valentino were painfully literal, while the huge ruffled blossom on Christina Hendricks' Romona Keveza just got in the way.

SPARKLYYYY!!

Many of the night's best dressed ladies twinkled in uber-glitzy gowns. One of the loveliest uses of sparkle? Ombre shimmer by Marchesa, as worn by Olivia. We're also partial to the huge sequins on Anne's Armani stunner.
