Always loved Jerry Hall. Besides being gorgeous, she’s intelligent, outspoken, and for someone who has lived one of the world’s most glamorous lives, seems to be the type of woman who would gladly be referred to as a “broad.” And after reading how about her drug-inspired decision to become a model, we love her even more.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Hall talks about rooming with Grace Jones in Paris, her love of Mad Men, and whether or not she’ll ever have to cut her hair — but the anecdote that stood out to us most involved a teenaged LSD trip while still living in Texas.
It wasn’t until she took LSD at a high school party that she began to understand her potential [as a model]. “A boy gave me a quarter of a tab. I didn’t know what it was!” she says. “I actually had never taken drugs and was very nervous. And I never did take drugs [afterward] ever, ever. But I locked myself in the bathroom and spent the whole night staring in the mirror, going, ‘Oh, my God.’” She runs her fingers over the contours of her face. “All of a sudden, I thought, Wow!”
And so, a few weeks before her 17th birthday, she flew to Paris. “I sort of had a turning thing. One of those moments where you decide you’re going to do something really wild. And I did it.”
Honestly, that seems as good a reason as any.
